“String Theory” tries to describe the smallest particles in the universe- the essence of existence. The strings represent squiggly, stretchable strands of existence. They are proposed to be the building blocks for subatomic particles- that make up quarks that create the components of an atom; that make up molecules; that make up life...

I enjoyed your article. I also feel that the basic movement in life is towards oneness or wholeness (chaos is but the backdrop against which we become aware of this tendency towards oneness). Everything in existence appears to move towards an Ideal (Platonic Universal), which seems to me to be the one organizing principle of all that is and also that which fosters balance in all things. Don't you think that in some way we are still "one with God" but are simply not aware of it and that coming into oneness is again becoming fully aware? Strings (or any thing) could be seen as a reflection of inherent oneness, taking their own existence from that oneness, and by their harmonic (or disonant) interactions providing a reminder of the oneness of which you speak in your article. In some way it seems to me, oneness can never not be so for anything that exists -- how would it be created in a place where it did not already exist? So, oneness must be real and true but we have, in general, lost our consciousness of it. Life, in its continual striving towards the Ideal, is a reminder and a pathway that leads to restoring that awareness. The more we study life (e.g. strings, quanta, trees and the wise) the more we see the reflections of this abiding and inherent Oneness. But the more we become aware of our true self, the more we become by again being that Oneness.
Thank you for your comments Kevin. We are apparently not alone in our consensus of oneness. There is a movie out that was created by some people after 911 happened. They interviewed some of the greatest minds in the world on the state of mankind. I would like to see this movie that interviews all these great people. The message that comes out clearly from this movie is that "We are all one!" I felt a bit of pride when I heard this! It just makes sense!
